River Park Tree Canopy Project

Community Tree Planting:  Saturday, November 19, 2022 from 8:45 AM to 12:00 PM

Join us at our eighth community tree planting!  We have planted nearly 190 trees since January, 2015.

The trees are provided by SMUD and sited by the Tree Foundation. After you apply, a Community Forester will visit your home to determine the best place to plant one of the deciduous trees offered by SMUD and the Tree Foundation.

A team of trained community volunteers will plant your trees.  Trees are provided at no cost to the homeowner, but tree maintenance is the homeowner’s responsibility.

The River Park Tree Canopy Project is a Neighborwoods Program co-sponsored by the River Park Neighborhood Association, the River Park Garden Club, the Sacramento Tree Foundation, Caleb Greenwood School, SMUD, and Councilmember Jeff Harris. We are a community-based effort to restore and enhance the tree canopy in River Park. River Park’s beautiful trees improve air quality, reduce energy costs, increase our property values, and provide a respite from summer’s heat.
