Young Tree Pruning Workshop – Saturday, January 18, 2020

Have you planted a tree in your yard within the last three to five years? Would you like to know how to shape it into a stately canopy?
Please come to the Fourth Annual River Park Young Tree Pruning Workshop!

When:  Saturday, January 18, 2020 – 9 a.m. to 12 noon
Where:  Fremont Presbyterian Church, Geneva Room

An indoor classroom session, led by local River Park tree expert and River Park Tree Canopy Project committee member David Boyd, will outline the five basic steps to take now to ensure a beautiful, healthy, disease-resistant tree in the future. Community Tree Planting:  Saturday, November 16, 2019

Join us at our fourth community tree planting!  We have planted nearly 100 trees since January, 2015.

The trees are provided by SMUD and sited by the Tree Foundation.  After you apply, a Community Forester will visit your home to determine the best place to plant one of the deciduous trees offered by SMUD and the Tree Foundation.

Planting assistance is provided to those who request it. Trees are provided at no cost to the homeowner, but tree maintenance is the homeowner’s responsibility.

To apply for a tree, click here.

The River Park Tree Canopy Project is a Neighborwoods Program co-sponsored by the River Park Neighborhood Association, the River Park Garden Club, the Sacramento Tree Foundation, Caleb Greenwood School, SMUD, and Councilmember Jeff Harris.  We are a community-based effort to restore and enhance the tree canopy in River Park.  River Park’s beautiful trees improve air quality, reduce energy costs, increase our property values, and provide a respite from summer’s heat.
